Bee Here Now
One of two entries into "Wild in the City: Untamed", part of the U.S. Forest Service's 3rd annual Visions of the Wild Festival of Art and Culture 2016, Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum, Vallejo, California. It's based on photos I took of bees enjoying the sunflowers I planted in our backyard the previous summer.
Oil on canvas, 2016. Painted almost exclusively with palette knives.
This painting is plainly visible in the background of the library poetry reading scene in the 8th episode of the first season of the Netflix TV series, "13 Reasons Why" along with other paintings from the above show (including my painting, "Sunflower Friend"). The production crew used the museum where the show was hung as the setting for this scene.
